The Associate, Investment Banking (IB) role at Portage Point represents a unique opportunity to contribute to a broad range of middle-market transactions while gaining exposure to integrated capabilities across firm practice lines. As a key member of the IB team, this Associate will support the execution of mergers and acquisitions, capital advisory, restructurings, special situations and other strategic advisory engagements. This Associate will report to local IB leadership while working closely with U.S.-based banking teams. Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with senior team members across practice lines and U.S.-based deal teams to support domestic and cross-border M&A transaction, capital raise, recapitalization, restructuring and special situation engagement execution
  • Build and maintain complex financial models including DCF, LBO, merger, operating, valuation and restructuring models
  • Perform financial, operational, industry and competitive analyses to support transaction execution and business development initiatives
  • Prepare company valuations utilizing multiple methodologies including discounted cash flow, precedent transaction and public trading comparable analyses
  • Develop high-impact client deliverables including teasers, confidential information presentations, management presentations, buyer lists, process letters and board materials
  • Support restructuring and special situations engagement execution, including liability management transactions, distressed M&A processes, §363 sales and debtor-in-possession financing processes
  • Assist in the analysis of capital structures, debt agreements, liquidity positions and strategic alternatives
  • Support due diligence processes, virtual data room management and transaction coordination activities
  • Conduct investor, buyer and target research and assist in identifying prospective transaction counterparties
  • Partner with the Innovation and AI Solutions group to identify and leverage AI tools and automation opportunities that enhance efficiency and quality in transaction execution and financial analysis
  • Support business development efforts while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients
  • Share and manage best practices as well as lead internal trainings where required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program required
  • Willing to relocate to or be primarily present in Gurgaon or Mumbai
  • Three plus years of experience at a top-tier investment bank supporting U.S.-based clients and deal teams
  • Strong financial modeling skills and understanding of corporate finance and valuation methodologies including DCF, LBO, merger modeling, trading and transaction comparables
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready presentation and reporting skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in lean, fast-moving teams
  • High attention to detail, responsiveness and ownership mindset
  • Track record of success in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments
