Job description

Typical Accountabilities

Technical role:

  • Provides strategic leadership and expert input into China development strategies and plans for cell therapy portfolio projects related to NDA-enabling studies within the Oncology therapeutic area.
  • Leads cell therapy NDA studies design within the China Oncology therapeutic area, or provides input to global study design reflecting specific Chinese needs.
  • Leads and/or performs China protocol development, and preparations for governance committee review.
  • Provides, as an expert, strategic physician expertise to quantify the benefits, risks, value and uncertainty of clinical trials.
  • Ensures efficient and effective leadership and management of project information, strategy, quality standards, and integrity of information interpretation.
  • Networks with colleagues and experts, providing medical consultancy in China Oncology cell therapy and serving as a resource for others by sharing experience within and beyond project team.
  • Represents AstraZeneca and its Physicians at external events.
  • Keeps own knowledge of best practices and new relevant developments up to date.

People management role:

  • Leads, guides, evaluates and develops the team Physicians to ensure that the own area achieves its objectives and complies with all relevant regulations and laws.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to the team physicians in both technical and career development.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Master degree in medical discipline or above
  • Experience as a physician
  • Experience of management and design of clinical trials
  • Thorough knowledge of study analysis and design in all phases of drug development
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as clinical research physician in pharma industry R&D
  • Therapeutic area expertise and commercial understanding
  • Proven leadership promoting, motivating and empowering others to accomplish individual, team and organizational objectives

Desirable

  • PhD in scientific discipline
  • Extensive general medical knowledge
  • Extensive experience in managing or designing clinical trials which require close monitoring
  • Conceptual, analytical and strategic thinking
  • Effective problem and conflict resolution skills and proven team focus
