The Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG), Canada’s leading, innovative and client-focused law firm, is seeking an:

Associate – Disputes (Construction)

The candidate will have an opportunity to join Canada’s largest construction law group and work along side professionals recognized for their extensive and in-depth industry experience.

We are looking for

The ideal candidate will have a minimum 4 – 6 years experience in construction and infrastructure law, be a team player, take great pride in their work, and have strong analytical, personal, oral and written communication skills.  

This role will offer the successful candidate the following opportunities:

  • Acting on behalf of sureties, owners, contractors, subcontractors in disputes arising from public and private construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Advising sureties on multi‑project and large‑scale defaults and insolvencies, working collaboratively with lawyers across multiple practice areas.
  • Drafting, advising and negotiating contracts for procurement and construction.
  • Advising on a broad range of construction issues such as breach of contract, breach of trust and construction liens.
  • Being a team member of a busy national construction group.
