Job Description:

This is a critical role essential for the operating of SLAMHK. The candidate must possess adequate hands-on experience in the field of asset management. He/she will assist the CEO of SLAMHK in operating the company, with a focus on back office operations and controls. The CEO, COO, CIO, as well as Chief Investment Strategist will form the management team that drives the company’s strategy and development.

This role requires strong implementation ability to execute defined plans. It also requires a strong sense of compliance and efficiency.

Some key mandates of this role are :

  • Take ownership of all operational processes of the company, e.g. order management, order reconciliation, fee calculation, etc.

  • Ensure overall back office operational accuracy, effectiveness and efficiency, support the daily operation of SLAMHK

  • Continuously enhance existing operations framework by ways of automation and other means

  • Establish and maintain adequate and effective controls over SLAMHK’s operations to manage risks and compliance of all relevant rules and regulations. The COO will be the “Manager-in-Charge” for Operational Control and Review as defined by the SFC

  • Contribute to the company’s strategic planning and implementation, take ownership in various business projects, be accountable for the company’s day-to-day operation

Key accountabilities:

  • Ensure compliance of relevant rules that concern asset management – oversight of all compliance-related reporting, controls, monitoring and issue escalation. Enhance and maintain a robust framework to manage the financial/management reporting and other operational processes of the company

  • Support CEO of SLAMHK in developing and implementing the overall company strategy. Lead projects as needed such as back office automation, internal/external audits, etc

  • Drive operational efficiency and effectiveness, implementing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Streamline processes, workflows, and systems to enhance productivity and deliver exceptional client service.

  • Embrace technology advancements and leverage digital solutions to improve operational efficiency and deliver innovative services.

  • Manage relationship, and work closely, with both internal (peer functions within SLHK such as compliance, internal audit, finance, legal) and external (custodian, fund managers, trustees, etc.) parties

  • Talent Management and Organizational Development:

    - Attract, develop, and retain a high-performing team.

    - Provide mentoring, coaching, and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and talent development.

Requirement:

  • University degree in Finance, Business Admin or similar discipline

  • Other professional qualification a plus (e.g. CFA, FRM)

  • At least 10 years of solid fund industry experience, ideally covering different aspects of a asset management business

  • Possess exceptional implementation/execution skills, willing to take ownership and run the extra mile, a team player with a positive can-do attitude

  • Diligent, compliance-minded, able to work under pressure, and have a keen eye on efficiency

  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
