Job Description
The Assistant Security Officer (ASO) is responsible for maintaining aviation security at ADE premises through access control, patrolling, surveillance and enforcement of security procedures to prevent unauthorized access and acts of unlawful interference. The role ensures that employees, visitors, vendors, contractors and vehicles comply with applicable aviation security requirements before being granted access to controlled or restricted areas, while protecting ADE personnel, facilities and company assets from security threats.
Role Responsibilities
1. Maintain a high standard of job performance, discipline and compliance with Security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
2. Ensure all employees, visitors, vendors and contractors comply with applicable aviation security requirements before being granted access to Security Controlled Areas (SCA) or Security Restricted Areas (SRA).
3. Maintain effective access control to prevent unauthorized entry into designated security areas.
4. Maintain continuous security surveillance to identify suspicious persons, activities, unattended items or potential security threats.
5. Monitor and secure airside, landside, perimeter and other designated security areas against
unauthorized access.
6. Prevent pilferage, tampering, theft and unauthorized removal of company property.
7. Ensure security incidents, breaches, suspicious activities and non compliance are immediately reported to the Security Officer.
8. Maintain accurate security records and reports relating to daily security activities.
9. Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with applicable aviation security requirements, company policies, instructions and Security SOPs.
10. Support and carry out any other security related responsibilities as directed by the Security Officer or Security Management.
Role Duties
1. Perform access control duties at designated security posts.
2. Verify staff identification cards, visitor passes, vendor passes, contractor passes, vehicle permits and other relevant access documents before granting access.
3. Ensure only authorized personnel and vehicles are permitted to enter controlled or restricted areas.
4. Control and record the movement of employees, visitors, vendors, contractors and vehicles entering and exiting designated security areas.
5. Conduct regular security patrols at airside, landside, perimeter areas, buildings and other designated security areas.
6. Monitor doors, gates, fences, access points and other security facilities for signs of unauthorized access, security breaches or tampering.
7. Maintain continuous surveillance of assigned areas and immediately report suspicious persons, activities, unattended items or potential security threats.
8. Monitor and verify the movement of company property, tools and equipment entering or leaving the premises where required.
9. Maintain accurate security logbooks, records and reports relating to access control, patrolling, visitors, vehicles and security incidents.
10. Conduct proper handover and takeover of assigned security posts, keys, equipment, records and outstanding security matters.
11. Assist AVSEC Screeners and other Security personnel in maintaining aviation security and controlling access when required. 12. Support security response during incidents, security breaches and other security related situations in accordance with established procedures. 13. Cooperate with Security Officers and other Security personnel during security operations, inspections and audits. 14. Perform any other security related duties as instructed by the Security Officer or Security Management.
Merit
1. Minimum Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with credits in Bahasa Malaysia, a pass in English and two additional credits in any subjects or equivalent.
2. Proficiency in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
3. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
4. Good analytical and problem solving abilities.
5. Must be computer literate.
6. Basic Aviation Security Training.
7. Dangerous Goods Awareness Training, where applicable.
8. AVSEC Refresher Training, where applicable.
9. Relevant Security SOP and Access Control Training.
10. Previous experience in aviation security, access control or security operations will be an added advantage.
11. Aviation security training recognized by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), ICAO or IATA will be an added advantage.
