Job description
LAB management:
- Supervise and coordinate daily laboratory activities with inter department to ensure timely and accurate testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.
- Laboratory Management: Take overall responsibility for managing the chemical plant laboratory, ensuring smooth operations, adherence to safety & Environmental protocols, and compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and customer specification.
- Team Supervision: Lead and supervise a team of laboratory technicians, chemists, and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Method Development: Support the development and optimization of analytical methods and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the laboratory.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure their proper functioning and accuracy.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control procedures, including proficiency testing, documentation, and review of laboratory data to ensure accurate and reliable results. Application of statistical methods and tools for comparison and performance verification.
- Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Manage laboratory budgets, including procurement of necessary supplies, equipment, and services while ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, Global R&D, and other plants located overseas, to provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.
- Safety and Compliance: Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the laboratory, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations, procedures, Risk assessments and protocols.

General Quality responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Mgmt. System in compliance with ISO standards, ensuring effective implementation, documentation control and alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with operation, process, supply chain, commercial and R&D identification, for investigation documentation and closure of NC, including internal, supplier and customer complaint, using structured RCA and CAR.
- Act as quality interface for customers, managing customer complaints, quality inquiries and questionnaire, coordinating customer quality audits, including preparation, execution and timely closure.
- Coordinate and facilitate Quality Management Review Meeting and ensure closure of the items.
- Support internal, external and ISO certification audits, ensuring audit readiness, effective response to findings, and follow up. Timely reporting of results and outcome to management.
- Training the team and others on Quality procedures, best practices, awareness and implementation of quality system improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in a chemical plant laboratory, preferably in the manufacturing industry, with a focus on Rubber, Solid, Slurry, and Gas Chromatography analytical techniques.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge and practical experience in Rubber, Solid, Slurry, and Gas Chromatography analytical techniques. Familiarity with other analytical techniques, such as spectroscopy, wet chemistry, and physical testing, is desirable.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Thorough understanding of laboratory safety regulations, quality standards (ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025), and relevant industry practices.
- Desired software knowledge: SAP (Quality management module), Statistical software (e.g., Minitab).
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, Problem Solving and Organizational skills.
