Job description

Big challenges need bold thinkers.

If you’re someone who sees problems as opportunities, you’ll thrive here. RESPEC is 100% employee-owned, which means we take ownership of every challenge. Here, your ideas drive real solutions. Since 1969, we’ve tackled complex challenges in energy transition, infrastructure resilience, digital transformation, and sustainability.

At RESPEC, you’ll work alongside clients to take on critical problems. Depending on your expertise, you might design infrastructure in remote locations, develop renewable energy solutions for global projects, or apply data-driven technology to improve mining and water systems.

We bring deep technical knowledge, real-world experience, and a commitment to work that matters. If you're looking for a place where your contributions have real impact, you’ll fit right in.

RESPEC seeks an Assistant Project Manager in our Land Development sector, located in San Antonio or Castroville, TX. The Assistant Project Manager position is intended for a broad land development and public works professional, with experience across site civil design, permitting, and project delivery.

We do not accept unsolicited resumes from third-party recruiters.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s  or master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas, or ability to obtain within 6 months
  •  A minimum of 4 years of relevant land development engineering experience in the following areas:
    • Private-sector commercial, residential, and mixed-use land development
    • Preparing engineering reports, civil construction plans, and permitting submittals
    • Helping in coordinating small to mid-sized design teams and managing client interactions
    • Providing land development engineering services in Texas
    • Supporting proposal preparation and fee development
    • Stormwater analysis, site drainage, and civil design standards
  • A minimum of 1 year of project management experience
  • Proficiency with relevant software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and common hydrologic/hydraulic modeling tools
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record; position requires operating a company or personal vehicle during work hours for business-related travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Central Texas market experience, particularly the San Antonio and Austin regions
  • Familiarity with local and state permitting agencies and development regulations
  • Experience delivering private site development and public works projects, including street, drainage, and utility design, as stand-alone assignments or as part of multidisciplinary project teams
  • Strong stormwater and hydrologic/hydraulic expertise is preferred to support cross-discipline projects, but the role is not limited to stormwater-only practice

Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe-benefits package. RESPEC is a 100 percent employee-owned company and employees are eligible for participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) after a qualifying period.
