Job description

The Torridon is a family‑owned, five‑star boutique resort set amidst 58 acres of magnificent parkland on the shores of Loch Torridon in the Scottish Highlands. Surrounded by rugged mountains, dramatic scenery, and shimmering lochs, it offers one of Scotland’s most spectacular and secluded escapes.

As Assistant Head Housekeeper, you help lead a dedicated housekeeping team committed to creating beautifully presented spaces that reflect The Torridon’s unique Highland luxury. You support daily team coordination, uphold high cleaning and presentation standards, and ensure every guest area feels welcoming and meticulously cared for. Working closely with the Head Housekeeper, you assist with team coaching, inventory control, and cross‑department collaboration to deliver seamless service throughout the resort.

  • Housekeeping experience — Significant experience in high‑end or luxury hotel housekeeping, ideally within a five‑star or boutique environment.

  • Supervisory background — Proven experience leading or supervising a housekeeping team, including training, delegation, and performance support.

  • Knowledge of standards — Strong understanding of luxury cleaning standards, room presentation, hygiene protocols, and health & safety compliance.

  • Organisational skills — Ability to manage rotas, coordinate daily operations, and prioritise tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Communication skills — Confident communicator who can work effectively with colleagues across departments and support a positive team culture.

  • Attention to detail — Exceptional eye for detail to maintain The Torridon’s high presentation standards across rooms and public areas.

  • Stock and linen management — Experience monitoring inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate records.

  • IT literacy — Comfortable using housekeeping systems, scheduling tools, and basic hotel software.

  • Flexibility and resilience — Ability to adapt to changing operational needs, support peak periods, and maintain professionalism under pressure.

  • Training capability — Skilled in coaching new team members and upholding consistent standards.

Benefits of Working at The Torridon

  • Stunning workplace environment — Employees work in one of Scotland’s most breathtaking Highland settings, surrounded by mountains, lochs, and nature, which contributes to wellbeing and work satisfaction.

  • Strong Team culture — A close‑knit, supportive team where staff are valued, recognised, and encouraged to grow within a family‑owned business.

  • Training and development — Opportunities for professional development, skills training, and career progression within a luxury hospitality environment.

  • Excellent accommodation — On‑site accommodation - brand new self-contained home with own bedroom bathroom and shared kitchen.

  • Meals — High‑quality staff meals provided during shifts, reflecting the resort’s strong food culture.

  • Discounts and perks — Staff discounts on dining, activities, and stays, allowing employees to enjoy the resort’s facilities.

  • Work–life balance — A more balanced pace compared with city hotels, with access to outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and cycling right on the doorstep.

  • Sustainability‑focused workplace — Being part of an environmentally responsible business with strong green credentials and eco‑friendly operations.

  • Recognition and reward — Regular acknowledgement of your contributions, including awards, incentives, and opportunities to take part in special events.

  • Unique hospitality experience — Working in a luxury, independent property where personalised service and craftsmanship matter more than corporate processes.

Compensation (from employer):
