We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Controller to support our financial operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position will assist the Controller in overseeing accounting functions, cost accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Travel

This position covers manufacturing plants in University Park, IL, and Wixom, Michigan. While one can reside in either place, the position requires to the other location - approximately 25%.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintain accurate cost accounting systems and provide cost variance analysis.
• Heavily support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Cost accounting (including reconciliation of inventory accounts)
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Assist with internal and external audits, providing documentation and support as needed.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Analyze production and operational data to support management decisions.
• Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to understand business drivers and improve financial performance.
• Help oversee and support the accounting team, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and manufacturing financial practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Familiarity with standard costing, BOM analysis, and labor/material variance analysis.
• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented and continuous improvement culture.
