What you will have an opportunity to do:

Description:

The Assistant Controller is responsible for but not limited to assisting the Controller in the preparation of the monthly financial information but managing the areas income audit, payables and receivables. Additional areas of responsibilities includes the following:

  • Prepare and Post Journal Entries

  • Reconcile fully 90% of Balance Sheet work papers

  • Review preliminary Financial Statements and investigate discrepancies

  • Participate in monthly financial review

  • To prepare Daily Revenue and Daily Labor Report

  • To set up monthly Department checkbooks

  • To direct and supervise all areas of the accts receivable function. (a/p, cashiering, income audit, etc)

  • To supervise inventory process on a monthly basis

  • To assist departments in the interpretation, orientation, training and analysis of accounting matters

  • To assist the Controller with the annual budgeting process

  • To represent the Controller their absence

What are we looking for?

Requirements:

  • Must have previous hotel/resort experience.

  • Three to five years of experience of solid general ledger and month-end close ownership

  • Supervisory experience (AP, AR, payroll, income audit)

  • Familiarity with hotel systems (e.g., PMS, POS integrations)

  • Understanding of departmental financials (rooms, F&B, spa, etc.)

  • Accounting Degree preferred

  • Ability to work with guest and employee concerns in a friendly manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating concern to the customer, and providing positive and proactive solutions.

  • Knowledge of supervision and management techniques

  • Ability to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with employees and guests.
