They assist in the enforcement of applicable State Statutes relevant to Project Designers and Construction Contractors and assist in the administration of Policy and Procedures for Building Services Division staff members. Their work is reviewed in conferences with the employees, by direct observation of results achieved, and through review of reports and records.</span></p><strong style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0; text-align: justify">To view full job description, please click on the job title: <a href="https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/cohb/classspecs/1384475?keywords=building&amp;pagetype=classSpecifications">Assistant Building Official</a></strong><div style="padding-top: 32px; padding-bottom: 8px; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0"><p style="margin: 0; text-align: left">Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, Architecture; supplemented by seven (7) to ten (10) years progressively experience as an electrical contractor, general contractor, mechanical contractor, or plumbing contractor with five (5) years’ construction experience in High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ), including at least three (3) years of supervisory or management experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. &nbsp;Must be certified by the State of Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAIB) as a Building Code Administrator. Required certifications must be kept current. Must possess or be able to obtain certification as a Building Official by Broward County Board of Rules an Appeals (BORA) within ninety (90) days of hire.</p><br>Preference be given to candidates with a Structural Plans Examiner and/or Structural Inspector license and demonstrated expertise in structural engineering principles, structural plan review, and structural inspections.<br><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify"><br></p><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify"><span style="color: rgba(104, 104, 104, 1)">Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements), or obtain within one year of employment.
