Exercises independent judgment in evaluation, selection and use of standard techniques, and solves problems when encountered. A licensed Architect who possesses and applies a diversified knowledge of architectural principles, practices and procedures to complete assignments with originality and ingenuity. Anticipates job expectations and contributes to project and design solutions.Responsibilities:
Develops advanced workflows in collaboration with respective team for the control of 3D geometry, techniques for design modeling, techniques for digital fabrication and techniques for simulation and analysis
Prepares or modifies complex drawings to incorporate the design intent with or without minimal supervision using diverse knowledge of architectural principles, practices and advanced techniques
Produces and may review graphic presentations, 3D renderings and implementation documents
May lead team in planning work and developing solutions to technical and design detail problems with limited guidance
Compiles data and performs design computations in collaboration with project team
Resolves complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions
Works with senior designer(s) and project team(s) on conceptual designs, presentations, design development and production to deliver projects on time and within budget
Prepares presentation/design drawings and may build models for client/project team review
Collaborates in preparing project schedules and coordinates with team in order to effectively meet deadlines
Executes deliverables according to scope of services and HKS standards, best practice and quality expectations
Assists with technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project
Validates that code and zoning requirements for assigned segment of project are met
May coordinate with consultants, contractors and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
Prepares client presentations and presents project design intent
Understands and supports negotiations on critical issues with project team
Performs product research; assists project designers with materials and systems evaluation to make proper selections
Assists in the research of material requirements and costs for projects
Participates in team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues and coordination with other disciplines
Understands industry standard construction techniques, building regulations and engineering principles to apply to project plans
May attend on-site visits, field reviews and project meetings and documents as appropriate
May be responsible for preparing meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings

Seeks leadership opportunities by providing direction and feedback to team members and collaborating with team leaders
Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team

Understands fundamental accounting principles and the project accounting process
Collaborates in delivering a project on defined budget requirements
Responsible for the financial implications of overhead and chargeable time, including accountability to project plan and planned utilization rate
Develops and tests new toolsets for modeling technique, software platform interoperability, participates in software applications development, and develops and tests workflows and methodologies for environmental simulation/analysis
May assist in developing and maintaining excellent relationships with existing and potential clients through project work
Supports the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business and assisting with proposals, budgets and schedules
Understands contract and recognizes additional services may be needed in collaboration with project team
Qualifications:
Accredited professional degree in Architecture
Architectural Registration required (Cédula Profesional)
Typically 5+ years of experience in equivalent quality design firms
Sustainable design accreditation preferred
Intermediate to advanced knowledge in 3D modeling in a variety of software platforms such as Revit, Rhino, and Grasshopper required
Experience with Ladybug/Honeybee for Rhino Grasshopper preferred
Experience with Adobe Suite required
Experience with advanced daylight and solar design simulations required
Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred
Understanding of the processes of design, fabrication and construction of complex projects and their impact on the built environment
Knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines
Strong knowledge of computational design methodologies such as development of physical computing hardware and software, advanced environmental simulation workflows and generative design solutions
Strong knowledge of architectural building systems and QA/QC process
Strong knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents
Strong organizational skills and the ability to support leadership
Ability to work iteratively across a variety of project typologies and among multiple BIM platforms
Ability to conduct design studies with minimal supervision
Ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships
Ability to communicate and present ideas in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
Ability to problem solve and apply innovative solutions
Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment
Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
Travel may be required.
