Our Department: Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT)

Fixed-Term: 12 months

What You Will Do

In this 12-month fixed-term role as an Applications Specialist with CTCT (Trimble’s joint venture with Caterpillar), you will be involved in the specification, design, documentation, and execution of testing of our machine control software and hardware. You will work closely with software and system engineers to ensure we continue to provide high-quality products to the earth-moving industry.

You will be an essential member of a multidisciplinary delivery team where high value is placed on field testing and knowledge of how machines are used in the earthmoving industry.

You will utilise relevant industry experience to provide a ‘voice of customer’, while working closely with software and system engineers to ensure CTCT continues to provide high-quality products to the earthmoving industry.

This will involve:

  • Component and system testing of products during development

  • Interpretation of high-level marketing requirements or technical documents into detailed user-centric specifications suitable for development purposes

  • Report defects and work with the development team to resolve them

  • Day-to-day liaison with development staff

  • Assisting with auto-test creation

  • Ensure that products meet quality standards

  • Input and assistance on released product issues 

  • Continuous improvement of testing processes.

What you'll bring?

You will naturally be a team player, with strong work prioritisation skills and a collaborative communication and working style, plus have excellent problem-solving and time-management skills. You will also need to bring:

  • A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Engineering, Software Testing, etc.

  • An understanding of the software development process with a desire to learn

  • Effective and proactive communication (verbal and written) of technical issues

  • A flexible approach to working in a changing environment

  • Analytical approach and attention to detail

  • Experience in the civil engineering, surveying, or tech industries is an advantage.

About Our CTCT Division

The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning and control products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GPS, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance.
