Responsibilities:

Customer & Technical Leadership

• Serve as the primary technical contact for OEMs, Tier 1s, and cell makers in China.

• Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and onsite trials.

• Deliver compelling presentations, training, and workshops to accelerate customer decision making.

Application Engineering & Prototyping

• Advise customers on envelope selection, stack integration, and manufacturability.

• Support material trade‑off evaluations (e.g., nonwoven vs. film).

• Operate a localized prototype hub to accelerate design iterations.

Supplier & Ecosystem Development

• Identify, evaluate, and qualify local suppliers (materials, equipment, tools).

• Coordinate PPAP, trial builds, and production readiness with supply chain partners.

Project & Market Intelligence Leadership

• Manage application projects from concept through SOP, including scope, timeline, and risk.

• Monitor regulations, standards, and competitor developments in the China battery market.

• Feed China‑market insights into global roadmaps and product strategy.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.

• Professional fluency in Mandarin and English (spoken and written).

• Hands‑on familiarity with Li‑ion cell technology, materials, and supply chain components.

• Strong communication skills for customer‑facing work and cross‑functional collaboration.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills applied in a multidisciplinary team environment.

• Knowledge of Lean & Six Sigma principles. 

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.

• Experience with APQP/PPAP and automotive product development processes.

• Knowledge of testing/quality requirements and inspection methods for battery components.

• Practical experience in Li‑ion cell development or manufacturing (prismatic/pouch).

• Understanding of China’s battery ecosystem and supplier landscape.

• Exposure to prismatic/pouch envelope design, stack mechanics, and electrolyte wetting (nonwoven/polyolefin systems).

• Knowledge of DVP&R, DOE, and customer validation frameworks for new materials/components.
