Product Manager – Air Control Products (APAC)

Location: Shanghai
Reporting Line: Sr. Product Manager, Field Device, APAC
Portfolio Scope: BAS & Controls
Position Description
This role drives the development and growth of air control and field device products across APAC, with a focus on VAV solutions, Johnson Controls’ specialized environmental control systems, and other application-specific products to industry needs.
As part of the regional product management team, the Product Manager works closely with sales and global teams to support product certification, technical enablement, and market engagement. The role follows a market- and application-driven approach, contributing to product positioning and enabling effective market entry and growth.

Own end-to-end product lifecycle management
Identify market opportunities and close portfolio gaps through new product initiatives
Support and coordinate go-to-market activities and product launches across APAC


Essential Job Functions
Product Strategy & Portfolio Management
Define and execute product strategies, roadmaps, and lifecycle plans
Identify portfolio gaps and drive new product development (NPI) initiatives
Develop business cases for new or enhanced products
Support pricing strategy and contribute to margin optimization and profitability improvement


Market & Customer Insights
Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and customer requirements
Assess APAC market size and growth opportunities
Collect and consolidate insights from end-users, distributors, and OEMs
Commercial Execution & Go-to-Market
Support go-to-market strategy execution in collaboration with sales teams
Lead product launches with regional sales and channel teams
Provide product training, marketing materials, and technical support
Support customer engagement activities and key account interaction

Product Financial & Business Delivery
Define market share, pricing, and margin targets of product lines
Drive customer profitability analysis to support commercial decisions
Align manufacturing and supply chain requirements, including forecasting and inventory planning


Cross-Functional Leadership
Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams
Support localization and regional product development
Coordinate with global counterparts in the NAM and Europe
Facilitate cross-functional communication and alignment
Industry Engagement
Support participation in industry forums, customer meetings, and internal reviews
Contribute to customer-facing presentations and product positioning materials
Monitor competitive dynamics and share market feedback with relevant stakeholders
Qualifications


Education
Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering
Preferred majors: HVAC, Industrial Automation Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Experience
5+ years of product management experience
Experience in product marketing, sales support, and business development
Hands-on experience with HVAC field controls, VAV, valves, actuators, or sensors is preferred
