AP Accountant (m/f/d)

Reporting to the Controller, the AP Accountant will be part of the Serbia Shared Service Center (SSC) supporting Spectro US operations. This role is responsible for key accounting activities including Accounts Payable, intercompany transactions, month-end close, and SOX compliance. The position requires close collaboration with US-based teams and adherence to US GAAP and corporate policies.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable:

• Process vendor invoices using three-way matching (invoice, packing slip, and purchase order)
• Manage intake, validation, and tracking of vendor invoices
• Obtain approvals for non-inventory invoices in accordance with company policy
• Prepare and support vendor payment runs (electronic and manual)
• Respond to vendor inquiries in a timely and professional manner
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to invoices, purchase orders, and receipts
• Record intercompany AP transactions in the ERP system
• Track and record freight-related expenses

General Accounting:

• Prepare month-end journal entries and accruals in accordance with US GAAP
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and support quarterly SOX self-testing
• Ensure compliance with SOX controls and support internal and external audits
• Post intercompany transactions and corporate charges on a timely basis
• Investigate and resolve intercompany discrepancies

Your Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2+ years of relevant accounting or accounts payable experience
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Willingness to work flexible hours to support US time zone, including month-end close
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, SAGE) is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and  critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
