Animal Care Attendant

VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital has opportunities available for Animal Care Attendants to join our fast-paced, AAHA-accredited, 24-hour emergency, specialty referral, and general practice in Downers Grove, Illinois. Veterinary Assistants will primarily work alongside our doctors and technicians to assist in providing patient care. Animal Care Attendant must be motivated and dedicated workers with a strong work ethic, excellent client communication skills and well demonstrated professionalism. This position does require candidates to be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and demonstrate attention to detail while handling heavy caseloads. Specialties include: Oncology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Emergency and Critical Care, and Rehabilitation.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements:

• Dependable attendance is required
• Telephone and computer skills are necessary    
• Client communication and education
• Husbandry
• Efficiency – organize daily duties and procedures to best utilize staff’s time.
• Flexibility – working to ensure that the job is done properly
• Medical records – charges, medical history, medications, laboratory reports, etc.       
• Radiology – x-ray technique and safety
• Assisting technicians in diagnostics
• Pharmacy – familiarity with drugs, creating labels, filling prescriptions

Pay: Starting pay of $17-18/hour
