Job description
The Congdon School of Health Sciences at High Point University (High Point, NC) is seeking five Graduate Teaching Fellows to assist in human gross anatomy instruction for the Summer of 2025.

Responsibilities:

Graduate Teaching Fellows will be responsible for assisting with instruction of graduate students in human cadaveric dissections, preparing and dissecting human cadaveric specimens, and aiding in the composition of written and practical exams.

Three of the Graduate Teaching Fellows will form the teaching team for the Physician Assistant Gross Anatomy course led by course director, Dr. James D. Pampush. The PA Gross Anatomy course runs from the last week of May to the second week of August. Two of the Graduate Teaching Fellows will be part of the Physical Therapy Human Anatomy teaching team, led by course director Dr. Susan Lad. This course spans the last week of May through mid-August.

Qualifications:

Candidates should preferably be ABD PhD students in anthropology, anatomy, biology, or a related field with a research focus on some aspect of human and/or primate evolutionary anatomy or morphology. Candidates must have completed a graduate-level cadaveric gross anatomy course, earning a high grade, and must be available for the duration of the contract. The PT semester is usually a week or two longer than the PA semester so candidates should indicate their summer availability.

Compensation: Fellows will be offered a course stipend and a room and board allowance. Assistance finding local long-term leasing options will be provided to the fellows.

This position is considered exempt and will be paid on a bi-weekly basis, with the normal pay date being every other Friday.

Application:

Interested candidates should email the following items to both Susan Lad (slad@highpoint.edu) and JD Pampush (jpampush@highpoint.edu):

1. A short cover letter (<1 page) detailing interest and relevant qualifications.

2. A curriculum vitae, including anatomy-related research activities.

3. An unofficial transcript indicating completion of a graduate level cadaveric gross anatomy course with a high grade.

4. The names and contact information for three references

Review of applications and filling of positions will begin immediately; and we will aim to have all positions filled by March 21, 2025, to ensure ample time for summer planning by all parties. We welcome applications of all eligible candidates and encourage inquiries about the positions. In the past we have deferred opportunities to future summers so please inquire even if you cannot participate this year. High Point University is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment.
