Job description

🐶 Our mission

Every pet should get the care they need, regardless of cost. Vet med prices are up 40% since 2020, and pet owners are stuck having to pick between their bank account and furry friend. At Snout, we aim to solve this by enabling clinics to offer wellness plans that actually work.

🚀 The opportunity

Snout is one of the fastest growing wellness plan providers in the veterinary space, trusted by clinics across the U.S. We’re a small but mighty startup team of <50 employees. We're on the lookout for an experienced and remote Analytics Engineer based in the U.S. to help organize and integrate our databases and software to connect veterinary client data and other sources into powerful, actionable insights.

💻 The role

As our sole Analytics Engineer, you'll be hands-on building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers Snout — from BI integrations with our veterinary customers to the pipelines and models that make our data reliable and useful. You'll partner closely with teams across GTM, marketing, CX, and engineering to translate business questions into analytics assets that actually get used.

Your impact will be felt across the entire organization. The insights and reporting infrastructure you build will directly shape how Snout's clinic partners experience our product and how our internal teams make decisions. This is a foundational role at a critical stage of our growth.

If you're someone who loves working with data, thrives in ambiguity, and wants to build something from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you!

Snout is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We know that great candidates may not check every box — and that’s okay. If you're excited about this role and our mission, we encourage you to apply if you meet at least 75% of “what we’re looking for” including the first bullet point. If you need any accommodations during the application or interview process, please let us know — we’re happy to support you.

🛠 What you’ll do

  • Integrate with our veterinary partners' software to develop data pipelines and dbt models to support Snout's data offering, ensuring our infrastructure reliably delivers data to analytics and business systems
  • Understand and translate business needs into executable data transformation models that deliver key technology assets across the organization
  • Provide analytics modeling, data testing, data engineering, and reporting
  • Create algorithms to determine relationships between various data sources and surface insights for end users
  • Discover and deliver insights and reporting to our customers and internal stakeholders

💡What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, building and maintaining data infrastructure
  • Experience across data and analytics, reporting/visualizations, data warehousing, data testing, and analytics engineering
  • A proven track record of data integration for data model consumption
  • Experience analyzing large datasets from multiple source systems for reporting consumption
  • Hands-on experience with Looker, dbt, SQL, Snowflake, and Fivetran (or similar) and coding with python (or similar)
  • Ability to to collaborate with various departments in a cross-functional environment to deliver useable insights

🌟 What will make you stand out

  • Experience with real-time data streams, cohorting, data classification, and data lineage
  • Experience with cloud-based AWS ecosystems and products
  • Experience at a subscription and/or technology startup

💖 Why you should join Snout

  • Fast growing, venture capital backed technology company focused on improving access to veterinary care
  • Ability to have a meaningful impact from Day 1, where your voice and opinion matters
  • Unlimited potential to grow in your career, learn and expand your skillsets
  • Collaborative, flexible, and friendly culture

❌ Why this role might not be a fit for you

  • You don't live near an airport or have the flexibility to travel quarterly
  • A fast-moving, startup culture feels overwhelming to you and you aren't comfortable with ambiguity and figuring things out as you go
  • You have limited experience with data infrastructure, warehousing, or analytics engineering
  • You prefer working in a single-team silo rather than collaborating across functions like GTM, marketing, and engineering
  • You're not comfortable working with ambiguous or messy data from multiple source systems

💸 Compensation

  • $100 000 - $160 000 base salary

⚕️Benefits

  • Day 1 medical/dental/vision benefits
  • Flexible time off + 11 Snout calendar holidays
  • Paid parental leave
