To perform this job successfully, the candidate should have a basic understanding of tax and accounting concepts, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and close attention to detail. The candidate must be able to meet strict deadlines and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, internet navigation, and online research is preferred. Experience with sales and use tax return preparation and filing is also preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities

People

  • Create a positive team experience by proactively completing assigned tasks.
  • Provide process-related guidance and instructions to Junior team members and new hires.
  • Identify training needs for existing and new tasks to support effective knowledge transfer. Conduct process training for new hires and help prepare them for the Process Knowledge Test (PKT).
  • Guide new hires and mentees through electronic data interchange and electronic funds transfer reviews and signoff before submission during the compliance cycle for three to four months.
  • Work on return preparation and assist preparers during compliance while meeting delivery and quality expectations.
  • Process and review online tax return filings and electronic data interchange and electronic funds transfer transactions from India.
  • Track errors accurately when reviewing return preparation and filing.
  • Lead internal and external debrief calls, coordinate with the Tax Specialist to provide dashboard data, and circulate meeting minutes to location leads for posting.
  • Assist Tax Associates with logging notices and voicemails appropriately. Provide training, assign work, and support the team in addressing notices and voicemails within the required turnaround time (TAT).

Client

  • Complete assigned tasks within the required turnaround time while meeting expected quality standards.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail in written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform quality reviews and self-reviews as assigned before work proceeds to the next review level.
  • Follow the work plan and deliver projects on time. Follow up by email and, when needed, escalate matters to the Assistant Manager or United States leadership to support timely completion.
  • Work efficiently and consistently to meet tax calendar deadlines.
  • Prepare medium- to complex-level sales and use tax returns using compliance software.
  • Ensure monthly checklists are updated.
  • Provide recommendations to United States preparers regarding updates to compliance documents and confirm that necessary updates are completed.

  • Assist specialists and Team Leads with preparing and maintaining Tax Compliance Services process documents, including training materials, document management processes, and quality management materials.

  • Develop advanced communication and presentation skills.
  • Collaborate with Associates to identify process improvement opportunities. Support Senior team members and United States Managers with implementing approved process improvements.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, accounting, or a related field is required.
  • Pursuit of a Professional Engineering or Architecture license is preferred.
  • Strong time-management skills and attention to detail are required.
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects is required.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and strong documentation skills are required.
  • Strong client-interaction skills are required.
  • Relevant experience with sales and use tax return preparation and filing is preferred.

Computer Skills

  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, internet navigation, and online research is preferred.
  • Experience with RSMeans or other cost-estimating software is a plus.

Work Environment

  • Current work hours are 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. IST.
  • Work hours may change based on United States time zones and business needs.
  • The candidate must be willing to work assigned shifts.
  • Overtime may be required based on business needs.
  • The position operates in a standard indoor working environment.
  • The position requires regular interaction with team members in India and the United States by email and telephone.
