Job Summary:   

As an analog IC design engineer in Semtech, you will be working in a team environment contributing to design and development of advanced CMOS, bipolar, and SiGe data and video communications products at data rates 1 to 50Gbs and beyond.

Responsibilities:

  • Design of integrated circuits from concept to manufacture (40%)
  • System level simulations, circuit design, and layout supervision (30%)
  • Preparation of technical reviews and product documentation (10%)
  • Design and technology industry awareness (5%)
  • Assessment of product feasibility, schedule, and costs (5%)
  • Test planning and prototype evaluation (5%)
  • Lab evaluation of high-speed analog circuits (5%)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Understanding of analog circuit fundamentals of key analog building blocks such as bias circuits, opamps, analog filters, CML logic, ADC and DACs using CMOS and/or BiCMOS technologies. Knowledge of more advanced circuits such as VCOs and closed-loop systems such as PLLs and clock and data recovery circuits is a plus.
  • Appreciation of layout concepts, device models, and the effects of parasitics and other non-idealities on high-speed circuit performance.
  • Experience with advanced analog CAD tools, particularly Cadence Virtuoso. Other tools such as Agilent ADS, HFSS, Matlab or other system modelling software considered a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, oscilloscopes etc.
  • Experience with Linux and scripting languages such as Python, Perl and Tcl or lab scripting languages such as Labview.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and an ability to excel in a team environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferably a Masters or Ph.D. degree.
