Job description

Imagine what you could do here. At Apple, new ideas have a way of becoming great products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your job, and there's no telling what you could accomplish. The AIML Privacy and Regulatory Compliance (PaRC) team leads privacy and regulatory compliance across AIML, partnering closely with Privacy Engineering, Privacy Legal, Competition Legal, Government Affairs, and various regulatory groups. This team shapes the direction of software features, models, and platforms across the company — balancing the tradeoffs involved in building successful products that meet Apple's high customer expectations for both quality and privacy. PaRC leads readiness efforts across AIML to meet new regulatory and compliance requirements, while integrating those requirements into infrastructure and processes to ensure ongoing compliance. The team also builds and champions the tools, monitoring programs, and practices that strengthen AIML's overall privacy narrative. Lastly, this team influences, guides, and, in some situations, sets data collection, usage, and lineage strategies across AIML. The PaRC team is looking for a Privacy & Compliance Data Strategy Lead with deep knowledge of privacy regulations and standards, compliance programs, corporate policies, and a genuine curiosity for technology.

Description

In this role, you will collaborate with engineering, data science, legal, and privacy teams across Apple to set and drive a data strategy across AIML that pushes the business forward, while ensuring Apple maintains its user privacy and legal commitments.
You will create a data taxonomy and inventory across AIML, which also includes data used for training models, while also understanding data availability both within Apple and across the ecosystem and usage across Apple, and work with data scientists, researchers and engineers to set data-driven decisions.
As you set or create data collection and usage rules across the company, you will work with the Compliance and Policies team to codify the rules into guidelines and standards that can be enforced via monitoring controls.
You will serve as the authoritative source for understanding data flows and usage across AIML — working side-by-side with privacy, software and data engineers, data scientists, EPMs, and lawyers.
As a subject matter expert in AIML's data collection and use practices, you will focus on setting data-driven decisions that empower the business. Lastly, you will work with software engineers to build out infrastructure that can employ rules-based data collection and use practices.
You will be responsible for setting the requirements and vision for AIML.

Minimum Qualifications

15+ years of experience in privacy, compliance, and/or data governance.
Proven ability to lead large, complex, and ambiguous cross-functional technical programs.
Experience setting data collection and use practices, and in designing infrastructure to provide rules-based processing controls.
Strong understanding of privacy, competition, and AI regulations, including CCPA, GDPR, DMA, and the EU AI Act.
B.S. degree or higher in Engineering, Privacy, Policy, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Exceptional written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to both engineers and lawyers, up to and including Senior Vice Presidents.
Experience in compliance, public policy, data privacy, or machine learning, with a track record of bridging technical and legal perspectives.
Demonstrated ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies and navigate a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across functions, levels, and disciplines.
Proven track record of managing ambiguity and complexity while sustaining compliance at scale.
