ABOUT CASTOR SHIPS

We are a growth-oriented global shipping company engaged in the seaborne transportation of a wide range of commodities along worldwide shipping routes through our ownership of dry bulk and tanker vessels. Our primary goal is to grow our fleet through acquisitions of new and modern vessels.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for an AI & Analytics Engineer to help build practical, production-ready AI and analytics capabilities. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role based in Athens, reporting to the AI & Analytics Manager. You'll work directly with business teams to understand their problems, build the AI applications and analytics products that solve them, and support AI adoption across the company.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

AI Application Development

•     Build production AI solutions for real-world problems, that reduce manual work and measurably improve decision speed across business functions

•     Collaborate with business teams to understand needs and requirements and develop AI solutions.

•     Implement evaluation and observability tooling to monitor AI application quality in production

•     Evaluate external AI and data products through structured assessment

•     Support AI adoption across the company through prompt libraries, documentation, and training

Data & Analytics

•     Translate business questions into KPIs, analyses and self-service analytics covering areas such as fleet performance, asset acquisition and financial metrics.

•     Help define and evolve the data foundation — from source systems through to the analytics and AI layers — so data stays well-structured and trustworthy

Collaboration & Adoption

•     Work with stakeholders across departments to understand problems before proposing solutions

•     Communicate analytical outputs and AI capabilities clearly to non-technical audiences

Requirements

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Required

•     Degree in computer science, data science, engineering, physics or a related field

•     3–7 years of relevant professional experience

•     Strong Python and/or SQL skills

•     Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google), including RAG and prompt design/evaluation

•     Ability to translate business problems into analytical or AI-enabled solutions

•     Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau

Nice to Have

•     Agentic AI frameworks and multi-agent orchestration

•     Basic understanding of data modeling concepts and databases/data warehouses

•     Data governance, responsible AI, or LLMOps experience

•     Agile, proactive, and eager to learn new tools and technologies

•     Familiarity with the maritime industry

WHO YOU ARE

•     You think in concepts first, tools second

•     You take full ownership from problem definition through user adoption

•     You approach AI with healthy skepticism — you know when to trust the output and when to verify it

•     You are curious about the maritime industry and can build domain fluency
