Job Summary

St. Louis Catholic Academy is seeking a dedicated, organized, and student-focused Aftercare Director to oversee the school's aftercare program. The Aftercare Director is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for students beyond the regular school day while ensuring the program operates effectively and in alignment with the mission and values of Catholic education. The Director supervises staff, coordinates daily activities, manages program operations, and serves as the primary point of contact for families participating in the program.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of the aftercare program.
  • Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of students enrolled in the program.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise aftercare staff and volunteers.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate activities, enrichment opportunities, recreation, and homework support.
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and faith-filled environment that promotes respect and Christian values.
  • Establish and enforce program policies, procedures, and behavior expectations.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, school staff, and administration regarding program activities and student needs.
  • Manage student attendance, sign-in/sign-out procedures, and program records.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate supplies, materials, and equipment for program activities.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, Archdiocesan requirements, and all safety protocols.
  • Respond appropriately to student injuries, disciplinary situations, and emergencies.
  • Prepare reports, schedules, and other administrative documents as required.
  • Support special school events and activities as requested by school administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, after-school, or youth program setting required.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening and Safe Environment training.

  • Ability to supervise and engage groups of children in a safe and positive manner.
  • Strong leadership and staff management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and respond effectively to unexpected situations.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and recordkeeping systems.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and administration.
