Job Summary

St. Louis Catholic Academy is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Aftercare Aide to assist in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for students participating in the school's aftercare program. The Aftercare Aide supports the supervision of students, assists with activities and homework time, and helps create a positive atmosphere that reflects the mission and values of Catholic education.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise students enrolled in the aftercare program and ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assist with homework support, educational activities, and recreational opportunities.
  • Facilitate age-appropriate games, crafts, and enrichment activities.
  • Monitor student behavior and promote positive social interactions.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized aftercare environment.
  • Assist with student check-in and dismissal procedures.
  • Communicate appropriately with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student needs or concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and Archdiocesan safe environment requirements.
  • Provide support during snack time and ensure proper supervision.
  • Help resolve minor student conflicts while promoting respect and Christian values.
  • Report accidents, incidents, or concerns to the Aftercare Coordinator or school administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Aftercare Coordinator or Principal.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or recreational setting preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • Ability to supervise children in a safe and positive manner.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to engage positively with children of varying ages and developmental levels.
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Dependability, patience, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies and unexpected situations.
