The University of San Francisco’s Energy Systems Management program seeks adjunct professors for the 2025-2026 academic year from the field of energy, engineering, earth or natural sciences, policy or related sub-disciplines or interdisciplinary programs who can teach one or more of the following graduate courses: Quantitative Methods (Energy and the Earth System); Electricity Systems; Integrated Resource Planning; Energy Modelling; Energy Technologies; Energy Policy.

The Energy Systems Management program seeks candidates from the field of energy, engineering, earth or natural sciences, policy or related sub-disciplines or interdisciplinary programs who can teach one or more of the following graduate courses: Quantitative Methods; Electricity Systems; Integrated Resource Planning; Energy Modelling; Energy Technologies; Energy Policy.


Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed. The number of these temporary, part-time, non-tenure track, academic positions vary from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the program.

Appointments are offered on a course-by-course basis, and appointment length is based upon the course section schedule(s). Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.

Minimum qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Energy, Engineering, or a related field or interdisciplinary program is strongly encouraged; advanced ABD candidates and Masters recipients with relevant experience will also be considered.

  • Energy industry experience is welcomed and valued.

  • Evidence of teaching experience and effectiveness at the university level and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University are required.

  • The successful candidate must be committed to academic excellence and to fostering an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.
