Summary:

The Physician's role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients at Altru, providing comprehensive care for injuries and illnesses. Physician Position: Acute Care Surgeon at Altru Hospital
Altru Health System is a level II trauma center and includes:
350+ Altru physicians and advanced practice providers
11 ORs with a strong and supportive OR team,
Equipment available: Brand new Stryker ORs, da Vinci xi
Voice dictation available: Yes, Dragon
EMR: Epic
Requirements:
Board Eligible/Board Certified in Surgical Critical Care or General Surgery
Licensed MD/DO in ND and MN

Essential Job Functions:

  • Evaluates, provides diagnosis and treatment of patients of Altru who present with injuries or illnesses.  Counsels patients and advises on preventative healthcare measures. 

  • Exercises Doctor's own judgment in the diagnosis and treatment of patients consistent with Altru’s policies and standards.

  • Achieves the Altru Patient Engagement and Quality & Safety goals established on an annual basis.  Participates in activities and support department goals as defined by department on an annual basis.

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation ensuring quality patient care and assurance of appropriate reimbursements to Altru.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate within specified field of medical practice from respective accredited school.

  • Must be admissible to sit for either the Canadian or American Board or be certified by the Canadian Board and are members of either the Royal College of Physicians or Royal College of Surgeons, American board certification or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) board certification.  Board certification in area of specialty must be obtained within five years of employment.

  • Must be granted medical staff appointments at Altru and associated facilities as are necessary to the commission of duties prior to commencement of employment. 

  • Must be insurable under the Health System’s professional liability carrier prior to commencement of employment.

  • Doctor of Optometry, Chiropractic Medicine and Podiatry must have graduated from respective accredited schools.

  • Be legally licensed to practice medicine in North Dakota and/or Minnesota, depending on the location of the practice to which they are assigned.
