Job description
Position Overview:
As the Accounting Manager at App Academy, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the core accounting functions, driving cross-functional projects, and leading the implementation of accounting process improvements. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of expertise from both Big Four accounting firms and start-up environments, leveraging their deep knowledge to enhance our financial operations and contribute to our mission-driven initiatives.

Responsibilties:

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month-end close.
  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and analysis for stakeholders, including support for audits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless financial processes, driving efficiency enhancements.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of offshore contractor accountants for accurate and timely work, fostering growth.
  • Establish financial controls, policies, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Manage tax compliance, support strategic financial planning, and stay updated on accounting standards and trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience with a Big Four accounting firm and start-up environments.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proven experience in leading accounting teams and managing cross-functional projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced and evolving work environment.
