Accountant

Location: Butler, PA

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opening for an Accountant at our Butler location. The position is responsible for the overall preparation and analysis of financial records, and for communicating with management and manufacturing personnel for decision-making purposes.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Support the monthly close process, including inventory and cost-related activities
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
• Analyze financial results, identify variances, and assist in root-cause analysis
• Assist in the preparation of plant forecasts and budgets
• Support internal controls and compliance requirements, including SOX
• Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Perform sales/use and other tax-related accounting activities
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Knowledge of GAAP and basic accounting processes (close, reconciliations)
• Analytical ability, detailed orientation, and commitment to accuracy.
• Position is based at Butler Works general office, however may require time in a plant environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Microsoft Excel competence.
• Experience with ERP systems
