Job description

The Academy Manager leads the strategy, performance, and continuous improvement of the A1 Academy. This role develops instructors, evolves the technician learning experience, and ensures the Academy consistently produces highly capable technicians who are prepared to represent the A1 brand from day one.

The Academy Manager aligns Academy outcomes with business needs and drives continuous improvement in technician capability. Success is measured by Instructor execution, technician readiness, and downstream outcomes such as retention, productivity, quality, and Field Leader satisfaction.

What You'll Do

Lead and Develop the Instructor Team

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Academy Instructors.

  • Build instructor capability in facilitation, coaching, and learner engagement.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop future instructional talent.

Lead Academy Strategy and Performance

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Academy by establishing priorities, measuring success, and ensuring the program evolves to meet the organization's changing needs.

  • Use field performance data and stakeholder feedback to improve Academy outcomes.

  • Partner with Field Leaders, Safety, and other stakeholders to ensure Academy programming aligns with current and future business needs.

  • Partner with L&D leadership to align Academy, field-based development, and leadership programs into a cohesive learning journey.

  • Lead initiatives that improve technician capability, speed to proficiency, and long-term field success.

Own the Learning Experience

  • Ensure curriculum, instructional quality, and assessments reflect operational best practices.

  • Drive innovation in instructional methods, technology, and program design.

  • Establish standards that ensure consistent, high-quality training delivery.

  • Monitor student progress and participate in performance and readiness conversations.

  • Support graduation and field-readiness decisions ensuring technicians are prepared to represent the A1 brand from day one.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience leading Learning & Development teams.

  • Proven success coaching facilitators, instructors, or trainers.

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and lead change.

  • Ability to use performance data to improve learning outcomes.
