Primary Responsibilities

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for working closely with customer service, client representatives, and drivers of trucking firms to achieve and maintain high service levels.   The traffic clerk will be responsible for the following duties: 

  • Create and interpret shipping orders based on customer routing instructions ensuring all current customer requirements are met  
  • Interpret and understand shipping orders in order to facilitate shipping arrangements and instructions on the shipping order  
  • Contact carrier representatives to make shipping arrangements and issue instructions for loading products 
  • Ensure all ASN’s are entered in specified time frames while verifying accuracy of documentation 
  • Provide customer service to on-site carriers to ensure all proper documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner  
  • Perform data entry for all customers using shipping orders to create bill of ladings 
  • Organize and file shipping and receiving documentation for entire facility  
  • Understand quality system in order to identify and properly handle parts with quality warnings  
  • Ensure hot jobs are handled with care and urgency while being expedited through the department  
  • Maintain legible and accurate departmental logs and records and communicate discrepancies to the appropriate people  
  • Use RF Scanner to ensure product is scanned correctly and assist order pullers with correcting issues with scanned product  
  • Work closely with customer service and others in the shipping department to ensure customer needs are met and satisfied 
  • Assist with customer service functions before and after hours  
  • Work with FedEx and UPS supply chain  
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Position Skills & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma required and a certificate in logistics from a college or technical school or six months related experience 
  • Ability to read, understand and follow directions/instructions and safety rules 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills  
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment 
  • Key punch/data entry experience  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds 
  • Forklift certification preferred  
  • Detail orientated  

Compensation Information:

$22.40 per hour
