Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of 1000 Hour Appointment – ASC Program Coordinator. The 1000 Hour Appointment will report to the Director of the Academic Success Center (ASC) and provide operation and program support in order to maintain quality learning support services, customer service, outreach and marketing, and student engagement for online and in-person peer-tutoring services.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Program Operations: Coordinates daily operations and quality assurance of tutoring support services (internally and externally) and manages student staff and faculty communication in providing excellent academic support in alignment with best practices.
  • Hiring & Scheduling: Supports Center Staff in semester recruitment of tutors; coordinates the application and interview process; coordinates the onboarding of new hires. Develops a strategic tutoring schedule around high demand course times, usage trends, multiple modalities (online vs. in-person), and identifies relevant group and tutoring lab/drop-in times; coordinates with faculty on scheduling strategies and tutoring needs to inform strategic scheduling decisions.
  • Training & Development: Develops and facilitates tutor training; participates in campus-wide peer support and center trainings; conducts regular observations and semester evaluations of tutors and provides developmental feedback to improve quality of services.
  • Faculty Outreach & Collaboration: Promotes tutoring services to faculty and students; coordinates tutoring support services with academic faculty and other relevant offices based on their needs; coordinates access to course materials for tutoring sessions; sends outreach emails and assists with scheduling and holding faculty meetings.
  • Reporting/Assessment: Completes weekly and monthly tracking of tutoring services utilization and satisfaction; coordinates the distribution, collection, and analysis of program surveys; assists Center Staff in compiling and organizing student success data for semester/annual reports and outcomes assessment.
  • Marketing & Outreach: coordinates with staff and student workers to update and develop marketing materials, disbursement throughout campus, and promotion of services via flyers, videos, tabling, Etc. Manages and maintains social media platforms and website content.
  • Misc. Student Success Initiatives & Other Projects Assigned: Work with management to develop or support programming or initiatives related to the center mission such as: developing and facilitating effective study skills workshops for first year courses; supporting or tracking specific student populations or cohorts to provide retention or success interventions, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of experience in higher education or a related professional role.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse, non-traditional, first-generation student population.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with peer support specialists, peer mentoring, or other academic student services.

Work Hours:

This position will work 30-40 hours per week.

Hourly Rate:

$26.00 per hour.
