Job description

LOCATION: Spirit, Belfast

SHIFT PATTERN: Monday to Friday, 36 HOURS PER WEEK

PAY RATE: £12.83 per hour

Purpose: Play an integral part in delivering effective recycling and waste services; ensuring receptacles are emptied; recyclables are separated to secure best rebate value; and waste services complement rather than disrupt other business activities. Adherence to safe systems of work and maintenance of excellent housekeeping standards.

Key Responsibilities

Service Provision

·       Review & adhere to safe systems of work, policies & procedures

·       Adhere to a ‘clean as you go’ approach

·       Wear PPE as directed and maintain in good condition

·       Decant/empty waste receptacles as required

·       Ensure waste streams are segregated properly

·       Moving waste receptacles to ensure provision in areas of need

·       Coordinate provision of bins, skips and collections by waste contractors

·       Ensure adherence to work schedules

·       Ensure waste management does not disrupt client operations

·       Operate balers & compactors and other equipment (e.g. for cardboard  or plastic)

·       Promptly report defects of equipment

·       Complete check sheets as required

·       Maintain excellent housekeeping of all waste areas (including signage & labelling)

·       Support communication & awareness activities as required

·       Liaise with Site Waste Manager to deliver customer satisfaction

·       Report accidents, incidents and near misses of any nature to your Line Manager immediately, or prior to end of the shift.

Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria:

·       A full, clean driving licence.

Desired Qualifications:

·       Licensed forklift operative (counter balance).

Desired Experience:

·       Experience as a waste recycling operative.

·       Has worked at manufacturing facility.

Desired Skills:

·       Experience within the relevant industry, or a similar environment.

·       Time spent in a customer service environment.

·       Experience working within a results-orientated environment.

·       Confident.

·       Flexible, reliable, responsible, calm under pressure.

·       Willing to undergo training/coaching in line with organisational philosophy.
