Swissport is looking to recruit  talented and enthusiastic apprentices to its UK&I fleet team at Birmingham Internatonal Airport

 

The apprenticeships will offer a structured career path, support with study for professional qualifications and experience in technician roles with real responsibility.

The apprenticeship scheme will support the successful candidates in attaining their Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Technician qualification. During this time, apprentices will complete on the job training alongside attending courses at our training provider.


What does a typical day look like?

  • FP&A Performing basic service tasks & developing skills in removal and reconditioning of components.
  • Assisting qualified Technicians as needed.
  • Reporting weekly to a mentor or Workshop Supervisor regarding ongoing activities and progression.
  • Maintaining the condition of inventory, tools and equipment.
  • You’ll be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing GSE.

What skills and knowledge do you need?

Knowledge:

  • No prior knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics or electrics is required – Candidates should have a passion for vehicle technology and aviation.

Skills:

  • Logical approach to problem-solving.
  • An enthusiasm to learn new practical and theoretical skills
  • Practically minded.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • GCSE 9-4 (A*-C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths
