As Sales Manager, you'll drive new business growth across our R&D Tax Credits practice in the North West. You'll identify, develop and close opportunities with prospective clients, and build long-term relationships with finance directors, CFOs and business owners. You'll work closely with our technical R&D Tax consultants to turn leads into successful client engagements, and coach and develop junior team members as part of a growing regional team. You'll play a key role in launching our North West office, spearheading Ayming's expansion in the North West, and having the opportunity to build and lead a sales team as the region develops.
This is a senior, target-driven role for a proven B2B new business sales professional with an established network across the North West.
Your daily life
- Develop and execute a new business sales strategy for the R&D Tax Credits service line, in line with Ayming's growth targets.
- Lead the expansion into a new market by helping establish a new office, building your own sales team, and shaping its long-term success.
- Generate, qualify and manage a robust pipeline of prospective clients through networking, referrals, outbound outreach and inbound leads.
- Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers (CFOs, FDs, business owners) across target sectors.
- Lead client meetings and pitches, working closely with technical consultants to present Ayming's R&D Tax proposition clearly and credibly.
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through to proposal, negotiation and contract close.
- Collaborate with marketing on campaigns, events and thought-leadership activity to support lead generation.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts and pipeline reporting for senior management.
- Develop and nurture referral relationships with accountants, intermediaries and other professional advisers.
- Keep up to date with changes in R&D tax legislation and HMRC guidance sufficient to sell the proposition credibly (technical delivery sits with the consulting team).
- Represent Ayming at industry events, conferences and networking functions across the North West, leveraging an existing regional network to open doors.
- Consistently achieve or exceed agreed new business revenue and activity targets.
- Manage, coach and develop junior sales team members, supporting their growth and performance gainst targets.
Ideally, but not exclusively
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in a B2B new business sales or business development role.
- Proven track record of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Commercially aware, with a strong understanding of current business and market trends.
- Experience managing, coaching and developing junior team members.
- Experience in R&D, innovation, or professional services.
- A well-established professional network in the North West, with active involvement in relevant industry events.
