Job description

Location: London (Hybrid)
Type: Full-time

Join the Revolution in Car Finance 🚗💥

At Carmoola, we’re changing the way people get on the road – making it faster, fairer, and entirely built around the customer. We’ve started with car finance, reimagining it from the ground up with a seamless, digital experience that puts drivers in control.

Since launch, we’ve raised over £540m from top-tier investors (including QED), helped over 22,000 customers get behind the wheel – and we’re scaling fast.

To take things to the next level, we’re looking for a sharp, commercially-minded Conversion Squad Owner to own performance and drive conversion across our end-to-end journey.

Your Mission

You’ll lead the effort to improve conversion across our core customer journey — bringing clarity, focus and rigour to how we move customers from application through to funded loan.

You’ll define the strategy and roadmap for conversion optimisation, leading a dedicated squad of engineers and a designer to deliver high-impact changes. You’ll take a systematic approach to improving a complex, multi-step funnel — building a clear view of where and why customers fall away, designing and running rigorous experiments, and delivering changes that measurably increase conversion.

This is a high-impact role for someone who combines analytical depth with strong product judgement. You’ll own the problem end-to-end – working hands-on with your squad and closely with stakeholders to deliver results.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own conversion performance – Take full accountability for conversion across the car buying journey, setting clear targets, tracking performance at every stage of the funnel and driving improvements.
  • Lead a cross-functional squad – Lead a dedicated squad of engineers and a designer to prioritise the highest-leverage opportunities and ship high-quality improvements quickly and safely.
  • Build and prioritise a clear experimentation roadmap  – Identify opportunities, form hypotheses, and run A/B tests and multivariate experiments to improve funnel performance and customer outcomes.
  • Build data-led insight – Deeply understand user behaviour through quantitative analysis and qualitative research, using data to prioritise what to build next.
  • Ship high-impact features – Deliver new features, UX improvements and journey changes that materially improve completion rates, speed, and customer confidence.
  • Apply AI and automation thoughtfully – Bring a strong point of view on agentic AI and how it can be used to personalise journeys, remove friction, and improve decision-making at scale. Consider automation opportunities that help our internal Customer Support teams convert customers faster.
  • Collaborate across Carmoola – Partner closely with Credit Risk, Customer Ops, Marketing, Compliance, CRM and Leadership to ensure conversion improvements align with commercial, credit and customer goals.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • Senior product ownership experience10+ years’ experience in product or growth roles, with a clear track record of owning and materially improving a complex, multi-step funnel with measurable impact on conversion.
  • Conversion optimisation & experimentation expertise – A clear track record of materially improving conversion through structured experimentation. You’ve built and prioritised experimentation roadmaps, formed strong hypotheses, run rigorous tests, and translated results into sustained, measurable uplift.
  • Strong analytical capability – Comfortable working directly with data, defining metrics, interpreting results, and using insight to drive decisions (you don’t wait for others to do the analysis for you).
  • AI-native mindset – Practical experience building with, or meaningfully applying, agentic AI systems, and genuine curiosity about how this space can transform product experiences.
  • Bias to action and ownership – You take responsibility, move fast, and see things through from idea to impact.
  • Comfort with ambiguity – You’re happy operating in a scaling environment where not everything is defined, and you and you bring structure where it’s missing.
  • Strong judgement - You know which problems are worth solving, which ideas to kill, and how to focus a team on the highest-leverage work. You make thoughtful trade-offs and prioritise what will have the greatest impact on conversion.
  • Leadership and influence - Confidence leading a cross-functional squad and influencing stakeholders across the business. You communicate clearly, navigate competing perspectives, and drive alignment around decisions that materially impact performance.
  • Genuine excitement for Carmoola’s mission and the chance to shape the future of how people get on the road.
