Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Managing Director to lead a Sector Coverage Team within our European Corporate Credit group. This individual will be responsible for all corporate origination with the sector, including sourcing and executing new private credit and hybrid origination opportunities while overseeing the ongoing monitoring of leveraged loan and high-yield bond issuers. Strong track record and established sector relationships are a must. The Managing Director will also manage a team of [3 to 5] credit analysts, providing mentorship and leadership to drive high-quality analysis and investment recommendations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Origination & Deal Execution: Lead the sourcing of new private credit and hybrid investment opportunities within the sector, developing and maintaining relationships with financial sponsors, investment banks, and corporate borrowers.

  • Sector Leadership: Serve as the firm’s sector expert in Europe, providing thought leadership, industry insights, and strategic investment perspectives for investments across various pools of capital (IG and sub-IG credit, Hybrid, including p referred and structured equity, and private equity).

  • Investment Evaluation: Conduct detailed due diligence on prospective credit and hybrid investments, assessing company financials, competitive positioning, capital structures, and risk factors.

  • Portfolio Monitoring: Oversee the active risk management of existing leveraged loan and high-yield bond positions within the sector, ensuring ongoing creditworthiness and recommending buy/sell/hold actions as necessary.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor a team of [3 to 5] credit analysts, providing guidance on financial modeling, credit analysis, and investment recommendations.

  • Market & Credit Analysis: Monitor industry trends, macroeconomic factors, and capital market conditions that may impact credit performance and investment opportunities. Investment Committee Participation: Present investment theses, risk assessments, and return projections to senior leadership and investment committees.

  • Engage and grow an external network of corporates, sell-side, buy-side, advisors, and legal professionals as part of sourcing origination opportunities and diligence functions

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in sell side or buyside firms with a focus on credit, leveraged finance, or high-yield investing, with a strong track record in the sector.

  • Deep understanding of credit underwriting, financial modeling, and risk assessment.

  • Proven ability to originate and structure private credit and hybrid transactions.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring junior talent.

  • Established industry relationships within private credit, among advisors, sell-side, buy-side and sponsor communities, as well as company management teams.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex credit analyses clearly.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic investment environment

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required

  • Deal sheet of representative investments/deals originated and / or executed
