The Fund Services Team is a client-focused business, servicing Asset Owners and Asset Managers. Asset Owners include Life Insurance Funds, and Superannuation Funds and Asset Managers supporting those Funds and Trusts. We provide consistently high levels of service to our clients and operational efficiency in the funds service offerings, including Accounting and Valuations, Regulatory Financial Reporting, Tax Services and Transfer Agency.
Taking on the role of Manager Tax Reporting during a time of growth, you will join a team of experienced professionals, overseeing established offshore tax operations so that you can focus on additional value add activities, ensuring client needs are met while maintaining technical regulatory requirements. HSBC’s provision of Tax services across the multiple facets of fund services regionally, gives you the ability to expand your exposure in a truly global banking environment.
This role can also be based in Parramatta or the Sydney CBD Barangaroo Office.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Delivering a consistently high standard of client services to fund managers and institutional clients.
- Providing consultative advice to offshore operations teams, using local Fund Services knowledge and Funds specific tax expertise.
- Management and oversight of Tax Services including the review of distributions, tax returns and BAS, to ensure professional presentation of tax calculations to clients.
- Active involvement in projects working with Product and Operations regarding requirements to support new business and existing clients with tax regulatory change.
- Continuously enhancing our services to clients to deepen relationships, taking advantage of the ongoing technological and system advances of the Tax Services offering.
- Embracing the HSBC University approach to personal development to constantly challenge and uplift professional development.
- Motivation and coaching of staff on and offshore to maintain client deliverables.
- Being aware of the Operational Risk scenarios associated with your role and acting accordingly.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Significant tax operational experience in Managed Investment Schemes / Fund Services and its application to investment accounting, valuation, distribution calculations and tax returns.
- Ability to provide professional guidelines to clients on Australian tax matters underpinned by a sound understanding of the Australian Tax law.
- A genuine client focus with strong interpersonal skills providing the ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external client relationships.
- Strong analytical, project management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A university degree with post university qualifications / specialisation in tax. CA/ CPA qualification essential.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
