Job description
With multiple awards to our name, Larian Studios has proven that we’re dedicated to delivering high-quality role-playing games As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for a Level Designer to join the team and help us in crafting the high calibre games our fans have come to expect.

Responsibilities

  • Build white box versions of areas after consulting with all relevant parties
  • Handoff areas to environment art, scripting, combat and cinematics while helping them elevate the experience
  • Finalize areas for shipping
  • Understand the role an area plays in the composition of the game experience, based on the narrative and design/creative directors briefing
  • Know and apply all features and mechanics that are available to the player for exploration
  • Reserve space for features that are in development but not available yet
  • Be ready to throw away everything you made and start from scratch with a new perspective obtained through previous iterations
  • Fix level design related bugs in your own or other peoples' areas
  • Make sure the level is always playable and ready to go

Requirements

  • A design relevant degree
  • Proven commercial experience in video game level design
  • Ability to work well as part of a distributed, international team
  • An extremely positive can do attitude
  • Ability to give and receive feedback
  • The ability to efficiently communicate designs through 2D mockups or flowcharts
  • Ability to experience the game as a player
  • An RPG gamer with a passion for narrative-driven games

Nice to Haves

  • A background or degree in: Industrial Design, Architecture, Classical Art or Interaction Design
