At Bureau Veritas Commodities, we're looking for a Hot Area Laboratory Technician to join our Metals & Minerals Division in Witham. This is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career within a global business, with full training provided and no previous furnace experience required.

What You'll Be Doing

Working within our furnace area, you'll play a vital role in preparing samples for laboratory analysis by:

• Accurately weighing and preparing samples.
• Mixing samples using specialised equipment and extracted cupboards.
• Loading samples into crucibles and operating furnace processes.
• Melting materials and pouring small quantities into moulds.
• Handling materials safely using pump trucks and equipment.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Following strict quality, safety and environmental procedures.

This is a varied, hands-on role where precision, teamwork and attention to detail are essential.

 

 

What We're Looking For

You don't need previous furnace experience—we'll provide full training. We're looking for individuals who have:

✅ A positive and reliable approach to work
✅ Good communication and teamwork skills
✅ Flexibility to work rotating shifts
✅ GCSE Maths or Science (Grade C/4 or above)
✅ A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
