Chemist - Coatings - East Midlands

Our client is a highly successful UK based company leading the way for developing innovative processes for the production and commercialization of eco-friendly materials and fabrics. 

To support the continued growth of the company, additional Chemists are required to join the Technical Team. They will have an in-depth knowledge of water based coatings for the development and production of new systems and processes. 

Knowledge of elastomers and resin crosslinking systems such a polyurethane, silicones and acrylates will be advantageous. 

Responsibilities
• Design, formulate and development of new water based systems using a range of resin systems including polyurethanes, silicones and acrylates
•Transfer of water based systems into production and support full-scale manufacture.
• Write specifications for production and quality control.
• Improve existing processes to reduce wastage and increase quality.
• Liaise with customers and participate in trials at customer sites.
 

Candidate Profile
• Experience in the development of water based coatings particular in the textiles, nonwoven, paper or leather industry.
• Knowledge of a range of crosslinking resin systems such as polyurethanes, silicones and acrylates would be advantageous.
• Elastomer experience would be of benefit.
• Able to manage projects and be an effective contributor to multidiscipline teams.
• Candidates must have commercial acumen, an innovative mindset and be able to work on many projects concurrently.
• Excellent communication skills with fluent written and spoken English is essential.
