Overview 

Specialist role Business analyst 

Summary of the work 

RoS Agile Business Analysts are a combination of business process analysts, systems analyst and proxy product owner. The Agile Business Analyst must have a combination of strong business understanding and a creative yet analytical mindset to solve problems. They must be skilled at interviewing techniques and effective workshop facilitation.

About the work 

Who the specialist will work with

  •  Work with Product Owners to understand and model the capabilities of the business 
  • Work with Product Owners to elicit and prioritize requirements, define the product roadmap, develop our minimum viable product with corresponding storyboarding and the building and refining of product backlog 
  • Act as a Product Owner ambassador through being a proxy in ensuring business value is being delivered 
  • Work with the Design Authority function to continuously improve our business solution design capability and assisting in ensuring we are adhering to best practice 
  • Engender trust and authority through recurring engagement with the business and IT 

What the specialist will work on

 The successful candidate will be working to deliver upon an ambitious programme of Digital Transformation. They will also have excellent business analyst skills focused on creating solutions with strong experience of working in an Agile team.

Security clearance - BPSS Form required. Will be sent out at evaluation stage of process. 

Skills and experience 

Essential skills and experience 

  •  Ability to elicit requirements to assist in developing product roadmap
  • Ability to create effective user stories that follow the INVEST principles
  • Ability to create and refine product backlogs and assist product owners to determine priorities
  • Experience of working in agile teams using KANBAN and SCRUM delivery process frameworks
  • Ability to agree effective acceptance criteria in collaboration with product owner
  • Ability to create lo-fi conceptual wireframes
  • Should feel comfortable in facilitating Product Backlog Refinement sessions
  • Support the Product Owner to generate the Product Roadmap/Horizon and keep updated
  • Understands the importance of feedback and how to utilise the feedback to improve product quality
  • Actively contribute to Product Management community of practice
  • Offer peer-peer support
  • Demonstrable Value Stream Mapping Experience
  • Demonstrable experience writing User Stories
  • Demonstrable experience modelling the capabilities of an organisation
  • Ability to speak the language of the technical team
  • Ability to create business process diagrams using standardised notation in Microsoft Visio or similar package
  • Competency with understanding Entity Relationship Modelling, XML, web-services and standardised integration catalogues
  • Ability to ensure Non Functional Requirements are identified and agreed
  • Must be able to develop domain expertise quickly
  • Clear understanding of not only how to manage requirements but be able to articulate horizon and intermediary goals

Nice-to-have skills and experience 

  •  Experience of LEAN UX design principles
  • An understanding of the implications of system architectures in transition
  • Experience of Domain driven design and leading edge techniques such as Behaviour Driven Development
