Pharmacology in Nursing

Teaching Assistant (Math Support)

This position is 80 hours.

Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Must be available to provide in-person Math Support: Mondays 1130-1330, Tuesdays 1130-1330

Qualifications:

The qualifications for this position have changed since it was last posted

•             Strong foundational/practical knowledge regarding medication administration and dosing calculations required, including but not limited to:

•             Proficiency with fractions, decimals, and percentages

•             Setting up and solving ratios and proportions for dosing calculations

•             Experience with desired dose calculations

•             Expertise with weight-based calculations

•             Skilled understanding of flow and IV drip rates

•             Proficiency in formulas and conversions

•             The successful applicant must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students, be punctual in attending classes, and be able to meet appropriate deadlines.

•             Must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RN
