Role Overview
The Senior Fund Analyst – Financial Reporting & Taxation is responsible for providing advisory, analytical, operational, and relationship management support while overseeing financial reporting and taxation activities for multiple fund entities. The role combines strategic business support with technical accounting and tax expertise to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, maintain strong financial controls, and deliver accurate, timely information to stakeholders. The incumbent acts as a trusted advisor, supports strategic initiatives, drives process improvements, and provides insights that support business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Advisory & Business Support
- Develop solutions and make recommendations based on business strategy and stakeholder requirements.
- Provide advice and guidance to business partners regarding the implementation of solutions and process improvements.
- Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business groups and stakeholders.
- Influence and negotiate with stakeholders to achieve business objectives and priorities.
- Assist in the development of strategic plans and identify emerging issues, risks, and trends to support informed decision-making.
Financial Reporting & Fund Accounting
- Manage the full cycle of fund accounting activities for multiple investment fund entities.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial reporting deliverables.
- Deliver timely financial information and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee annual tax reporting requirements for assigned funds.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations and internal tax policies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and reporting obligations.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory developments and assess their impact on fund reporting and operations.
Audit & Control Oversight
- Coordinate the annual audit process for designated funds.
- Liaise with external auditors and internal stakeholders to facilitate timely completion of audit requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance operational effectiveness and risk management.
- Support a strong control environment that promotes accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Strategy & Strategic Initiatives
- Support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct independent analysis and assessment of strategic issues and recommend solutions.
- Contribute to initiatives focused on enhancing accounting, financial reporting, tax reporting, and operational processes.
Relationship Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned client and stakeholder relationships.
- Manage stakeholder expectations regarding deliverables, timelines, and service commitments.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, service providers, auditors, regulators, and business partners.,
Data Analytics & Management Reporting
- Analyse complex financial and operational information to generate insights and recommendations.
- Monitor business and operational performance and address emerging issues.
- Design and produce recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and management information.
- Provide financial and tax analysis to senior management, highlighting key trends, risks, and performance indicators.
- Provide analytical support for fund performance reporting and management decision-making.
Operational Management & Project Support
- Support planning and implementation of operational programmes and business initiatives.
- Participate in new client onboarding, fund launches, and special projects.
- Assist with system testing and validation activities related to process, operational, or technology changes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, enhance controls, and improve the effectiveness of financial reporting and taxation processes.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting, financial statement preparation, investment fund reporting, and taxation.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and financial controls.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience working with external auditors, regulators, service providers, and cross-functional business partners.
- Advanced reporting, data analysis, and dashboard development skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, quality, and risk management.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
