Job description

Ubisoft is a global leader in video games, with teams spread across the world creating original and memorable gaming experiences, from Assassin's Creed to Rainbow Six, Just Dance, and many more. We believe that diversity of perspectives drives progress for both players and teams. If you are passionate about innovation and want to push the boundaries of entertainment, join our adventure and help us create the unknown!

Within Vantage Studios in Montreal, a subsidiary of Ubisoft, you will report to the Vice President - Legal of Vantage Studios and be dedicated to a portfolio of three franchises: Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry. As a Legal Counsel, you will work in an international, creative, and constantly evolving environment, at the heart of issues related to game production and operations, combining operational responsibilities with strategic contribution.

What you'll do:

  • Turn law into a creative lever: act as the legal partner for creative and business teams, from the initial idea of a game through to the operation and evolution of the franchise (production, live, diversification, new experiences)

  • Structure, negotiate, and secure a broad spectrum of agreements (services, licenses, distribution, partnerships), in both French and English, under international law, at the core of video game, content, media, and technology challenges

  • Provide pragmatic and strategic legal advice in a fast-paced and sometimes fluid environment, supporting teams in their decision-making

  • Train and empower Vantage Studios teams on legal fundamentals (IP, contracts, risk awareness), with a pedagogical and business-oriented approach

  • Work in a cross-functional and international manner, engaging with stakeholders at all seniority levels, and contributing to global projects (with possible travel between Montreal and Paris)

  • Contribute to the management of pre-litigation situations, in close coordination with external counsel, with an anticipatory and solution-oriented approach

  • Maintain active monitoring of legal, regulatory, and technological developments likely to impact Ubisoft and the video game industry

What you bring:

  • Proficiency in contract law in environments related to media, entertainment, technology, or video games

  • Ability to communicate in a clear, composed, and structured manner with high-level stakeholders

  • An autonomous, accountable, proactive, and pragmatic approach to managing files

  • Strategic and analytical mindset, with a strong sense of priorities, solution-oriented and adaptable to change

  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills, with ease working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams

  • Curiosity and interest in video game franchises, their genres and production dynamics, as well as the competitive video game ecosystem

  • Professional proficiency in both French and English

What to send us

  • Your CV highlighting your relevant experience and skills

  • Any materials illustrating your legal practice (examples of cases, projects, or achievements, if applicable)
