Primary Purpose: Under direct supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, this position is responsible for conducting sample preparation and analysis using the appropriate analytical methods.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform sample extractions according to applicable SOPs and test methods;
  • Perform sample analysis, integration, and data entry into the LIMS system;
  • Perform method validation procedures for applicable test methods;
  • Maintain good laboratory housekeeping at all times;
  • Perform regular instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration;
  • Keep track of consumables inventory and request supplies for ordering, as required;
  • Follow the Quality System as documented in the Quality Assurance Manual; and
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Position Type: Six-month contract

Work Schedule: Thursday to Monday, early morning shift. Typical start time is between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. Flexibility to work these scheduled hours is required.

  • University degree or college diploma in a chemistry-related field;
  • Basic computer literacy;
  • Laboratory safety and WHMIS training;
  • CN, IC, FAA, BOD, Auto Titrate and ICP considered an advantage;
  • Troubleshooting skills required for instrument maintenance;
  • Technical knowledge of applicable test methods; and
  • Availability to work a Thursday to Monday schedule on an early morning shift, with a typical start time between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily in a laboratory environment and requires standing for extended periods, handling samples and laboratory equipment, and following all safety, quality, and company procedures. Occasional lifting of laboratory supplies and repetitive tasks may be required.
