Director Digital Production - Contract Role
The Director, Production, Digital is a strategic production leader responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of integrated, digital-first marketing campaigns across clients, channels, and platforms. This role leads, coaches, mentors, and develops a team of Producers, Senior Producers, and Production Leads while establishing the processes, operational frameworks, and resource strategies that enable high-quality work to be delivered efficiently and consistently.
As the senior production leader for digital delivery, the Director partners closely with Creative, Media, Strategy, Account, and Operations leaders to ensure projects are executed with excellence—from concept through launch. This role is accountable for production operations, team performance, workflow optimization, resourcing, financial management, vendor partnerships, and quality assurance across the production function.
The Director fosters a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive culture focused on excellence, growth, and continuous improvement while championing innovative ways of working and operational effectiveness. They serve as a trusted advisor to both internal stakeholders and clients, ensuring the agency delivers high-quality, impactful work that meets business objectives, exceeds client expectations, and drives measurable results.
Responsibilities & Skills
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Producers, Senior Producers, and Production Leads, creating a collaborative and supportive culture focused on accountability, growth, and continuous learning.
Oversee the end-to-end production and delivery of integrated, digital-first campaigns, ensuring consistent quality, efficiency, and profitability across all workstreams.
Establish and optimize production processes, workflows, and operational best practices that enable scalable delivery and continuous improvement.
Partner with Creative, Media, Strategy, Account, and Operations leadership to align production capabilities with client objectives and agency priorities.
Direct resource planning and capacity management across teams, ensuring appropriate allocation of talent to meet business demands while maximizing efficiency.
Oversee project scopes, timelines, budgets, and production forecasts, proactively identifying risks and implementing solutions to ensure successful delivery.
Provide leadership and guidance on complex productions, helping teams navigate challenges while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
Drive operational excellence through reporting, performance metrics, utilization management, and production analytics to improve team effectiveness.
Champion quality assurance across all digital, social, CRM, content, platform, and integrated production deliverables.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a senior production partner and ensuring exceptional service and delivery standards.
Lead vendor and partner relationships, including contract negotiations, performance management, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
Foster collaboration across departments, ensuring teams are aligned, informed, and empowered to deliver outstanding work.
Identify and implement new technologies, tools, and ways of working that improve production capabilities and support innovation.
Support agency growth initiatives by contributing to production scoping, staffing plans, operational strategy, and process development.
Create an environment where teams can consistently deliver high-quality, impactful work that supports client and business goals.
Required Experience
8+ years in digital production, integrated production, marketing operations, or agency project delivery leadership.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing production teams, including Producers, Senior Producers, Project Managers, or Production Leads.
Proven experience overseeing large-scale integrated and digital-first campaigns across social, content, paid media, web, CRM, digital platforms, and emerging channels.
Demonstrated success building scalable production processes, operational frameworks, and resource management practices.
Strong understanding of agency operations, production financials, utilization management, forecasting, and budget oversight.
Experience managing cross-functional teams and balancing multiple client portfolios in a fast-paced agency environment.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Strong vendor management and negotiation experience, including external production partners, freelancers, and technology providers.
Experience presenting to senior clients and executive stakeholders, providing strategic guidance on production delivery and implementation.
Ability to connect production excellence with business outcomes, ensuring operational decisions support client objectives and agency growth.
Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, process improvement, and operational transformation initiatives.
Experience in automotive, retail, and integrated marketing environments is an asset

The salary range for this position is CAD $100K-$120k Actual salary within the salary range will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, and skills.
