At Beedie, we believe co-op students are an important part of our team. As a Finance Co-op Student, you'll gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, corporate accounting, and period-end reporting activities while contributing to a variety of projects. You'll work alongside experienced professionals, including a large team of designated accountants, who are committed to providing mentorship and guidance throughout your term. The objective of the finance team is to accurately capture, report, and analyze financial and non-financial information to provide the business with exceptional decision support. This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills, build your professional network, and gain exposure to how finance supports strategic business decisions.

This opportunity is available to students seeking an 8-month co-op term beginning in September 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recording daily deposits and cash transactions into the accounting system.
  • Preparation of routine and ad-hoc journal entries.
  • Preparation and analysis of bank reconciliations including the investigating and resolving reconciling items.
  • Assisting with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparing supporting schedules, reconciliations, and working papers.
  • Assisting in compiling financial reporting packages, including assisting in preparation of financial statement files and working papers.
  • Supporting various ad-hoc accounting projects.
  • Performing clerical and administrative duties to support the finance function.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a university degree or college diploma program in accounting or a related field.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office experience with intermediate Excel skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.

  • Proactive self-starter who takes ownership of assigned responsibilities and follows through on commitments.
