Salary Range: $90-115K annually

As our next Automation Electrical Designer, you will serve as the technical lead for electrical and machine safety system design of complex industrial automation projects. This role provides engineering leadership, establishes design standards, mentors team members, and ensures all systems meet applicable safety, performance, and quality requirements. This position may be hired at either the Intermediate or Senior Automation Mechanical Designer level. The final level will be determined by the hiring team based on the successful candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead electrical system design for complex automated assembly, inspection, and manufacturing systems.

  • Develop and approve:

    • Electrical schematics

    • Control architecture

    • Safety circuits

    • Power distribution systems

    • Network architectures

    • Design standards

  • Lead machine safety risk assessments and safeguard design reviews

  • Design advanced safety systems using:

    • Safety PLCs

    • Safety networks

    • Integrated robot safety

    • Area scanners

    • Multi-zone safeguarding strategies

  • Provide technical leadership for integration of:

    • Robotics

    • Multi-axis servo systems

    • Vision-guided automation

    • Automated material handling systems

    • High-speed assembly equipment

  • Conduct design reviews and approve project deliverables

  • Service as the primary technical resource during project execution

  • Support customer meetings and technical reviews

  • Drive standardization of electrical and controls engineering practices

  • Mentor junior and intermediate Electrical Designers

  • Support proposal development, project estimation, and concept generation

  • Investigate and implement emerging automation technologies

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline

  • 4+ years of electrical design experience in industrial automation

  • Expert level proficiency with EPLAN and industrial control system design

  • Extensive experience with:

    • Robotics integration

    • Motion control systems

    • Vision systems

    • Safety PLC platforms

    • Automated assembly systems

  • Thorough knowledge of:

    • CSA Z432

    • CSA Z434

    • CSA Z142

    • ESA requirements

    • Ontario OHSA regulations

    • UL508A

    • NFPA 79

  • Core Competencies:
