Job description

Come join North America’s premier timber engineering and construction company!

StructureCraft specializes in the structural engineering, design, fabrication, and erection of timber structures incorporating steel, glass, concrete, and other materials. We work with clients and architects to create carefully detailed buildings and bridge structures that break new ground in sophistication, craftsmanship, and quality. We thrive on new and challenging design concepts, materials, and construction methods. StructureCraft enjoys pushing the boundaries in complex geometry, digital fabrication, and material testing and research, and our work in this regard has been recognized internationally, including numerous awards for innovation in timber engineering and construction.

The 3D Digital Design Manager will lead a skilled team of 3D designers, fabrication modellers, and detailers located in our offices across North America and in Europe.  The primary duties of this role include the planning, monitoring, and reporting of active projects in stages from bid through to construction whilst developing new innovative and cutting-edge methods, and practices to ensure the team stays at the leading edge of timber design. Under the 3D Digital Design Manager’s vision and leadership, the team of project leads, VDC coordinators, and 3D Designers will collaborate with external project teams, in-house engineering, project management, fabrication, and installation teams to ensure efficient, accurate, timely, and on-budget timber structures.

Entirely unique to this opportunity, you will have the opportunity to use and influence the development of Branch (www.branch3d.com), a next-generation software aimed at redefining design tools from conceptual structural design through to fabrication detailing and machine files.  Our entire 3D Digital Design group operates on Branch, and it has been the 3D modelling and detailing engine behind generating the shop drawings and CNC files for over 1M square feet of built mass timber projects.  By joining us, you’ll have direct influence on the evolution of this next-generation software, working directly with the Branch software development team, and bringing your creative ideas to bear in designing smart functionality into Branch. In-house training in Branch will be provided.
